Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your question here? Please get in touch with us.

Movie Programme

When will the programme be announced?

A weekly programme runs from Thursdays to Wednesdays. The programme for the upcoming week is announced by Monday evening at the latest. From that moment on, it is possible to make a reservation.

Until when will a particular screening be shown?

How long a film will remain in our programme depends on its success and on new releases that are planned. It is thus not possible to determine in advance exactly how long a film will run.

Why does the programme run until Wednesday?

In the Netherlands, a weekly programme always runs from Thursday to Wednesday. We update the programme every week to suit our visitors’ preferences. The new programme is published on our website every Monday afternoon. You can view our daily schedule here.

Will Visum Mundi be showing (...)?

As soon as we know which film we are going to show, we will announce it on this website. You can find them here on our ‘Coming Soon’ page. So do check back regularly.

What about the age restrictions of 16 and 18?

Unfortunately, we cannot admit visitors under the age of 16 or 18 to screenings with an age rating of 16 or 18 and over. This applies even if they are accompanied by an adult. If in doubt, we will ask for proof of age. Under Article 240a of the Criminal Code, an operator is liable to prosecution if they admit anyone under the age of 16 or 18 to a screening with a 16 or 18 age rating.

What about the age requirements of 6, 9 and 12?

The age ratings for 6, 9 and 12 years and older are recommended age guidelines. They do not indicate whether a film is suitable for this age group, but rather whether it could be harmful to younger children. In principle, younger children are allowed to see these films.

If, as a parent, you’re unsure whether it’s suitable for your child, watch the trailer first; this often gives a good indication of what’s in it.

To the Movies

Can I take my drink into the auditorium?

Yes, in the main auditorium there’s a small table next to every seat where you can put your drink. So help yourself and feel free to take your drink into the auditorium.

Is there a scheduled break in the programme?

For us, a night out is about more than just the screening itself. That’s why we generally schedule a break of around 15 minutes. This gives you the chance to discuss the first part of the film at your ease over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee.

Our Theatre

Is each screening still preceded by a personal introduction?

Absolutely, and we’re still very happy to do so. We’re gladly bringing the familiar warmth and friendliness of Heerenstraat Theater with us to Visum Mundi.

What a beautiful old building – what used to be here?

You’re right, this really is a fantastic location! :) But perhaps even more fascinating is its eventful past. Read the story of its remarkable history here.

How many screens are you currently operating?

The Auditorium is our main hall at Visum Mundi, with seating for 120 people. The Signature Room on the ground floor can accommodate 20 people. The Speak Easy is our main hall on the ground floor, used for special events such as receptions or other gatherings. Art exhibitions are also regularly organised in this space. In time, several screening rooms will be built at Visum Mundi; until then, the three screens at Heerenstraat Theater will remain in operation.

I see the same programme listed under both Heerenstraat Theater and Visum Mundi – are you the same company?

That’s right. The team at Heerenstraat Theater has set up Visum Mundi. Initially, Visum Mundi will serve as a special, additional venue for Heerenstraat Theater. Later – once more screen rooms have been added – Heerenstraat Theater will move entirely to Visum Mundi.

Is Heerenstraat Theatre about to be shut down?

Not just yet. We’ll continue to screen films at our Heerenstraat venue for a few more years. Over the next few years, work will be carried out on new screening rooms at the Visum Mundi site. Once they’re ready, we’ll be moving there in its entirety. And don’t worry, we’re bringing ourselves with us, so it’ll be just as friendly as ever. :)

Booking

Do you sell – and do you accept – gift vouchers?

Yes, we do sell the Heerenstraat Theater Gift Voucher. This is also valid at Visum Mundi. The recipient of the voucher can choose any film they like and will also receive a drink during the interval.

In addition to our own gift voucher, we also sell and accept the National Cinema Voucher. You can find all gift vouchers and prices on the ticket sales page.

Cancelling a reservation (e.g. Cineville)

Bookings (including Cineville) can be cancelled up to 48 hours in advance by email ([email protected]); after that, they can still be cancelled by telephone on 0317-414029

Accessibility

Is Visum Mundi accessible to people in wheelchairs?

Yes, Visum Mundi is accessible to wheelchair users. We have a wheelchair lift that allows you to access the main auditorium. Wheelchair spaces are available inside the auditorium. If you wish to make use of these, please let us know when you make your booking so that we can make the necessary arrangements in a timely manner. If you have any other questions that might make your visit easier, please discuss them with our team.

What's the parking arrangement at Visum Mundi?

Are you coming to see a film or attend an event at Visum Mundi? We have plenty of bike parking spaces next to our building, on Irenebrigadeplein.

Are you travelling from further away, or do you prefer to come by car for other reasons? Then you’re very welcome to park your car on the same square, behind the barrier. It opens automatically; an exit token is available at the bar for €3.50, which allows you to park for the entire duration of your visit.

Prefer free parking? That’s possible just a 5-minute walk from Visum Mundi. Navigate to Gerdesstraat or the Gevangentoren. Parking there is free on most (not all!) evenings and most (not all!) Sundays. To be sure, check the information on the relevant parking meter or in your parking app.

If you are parking in a paid car park: all films are shown including the supporting programme and an interval. Please bear this in mind when determining your parking time.
